Requirements
- 8-10 years’ experience relevant underwriting and credit experience in a similar role in a commercial regional bank or financial institution underwriting both equipment finance and working capital transactions
- Proven judgment exercising individual underwriting discretion of up to $1MM
- Strong understanding of collateral analysis for various equipment segments, including but not limited to transportation, manufacturing, materials handling and construction
- Understanding of the relationship between pricing and risk
- Experience of lending to small and large businesses across a broad range of industries
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Strong excel skills to include at least use of filters, pivot tables and lookups
- Strong knowledge of banking concepts and rules including regulatory risk classification of customers and PD/LGD
- Bachelor’s degree and/or professional accounting qualification
- Working knowledge of legal documentation
- Working knowledge of industry standard credit rating tools and financial modeling
Responsibilities
- Exercise own credit authority up to a defined level and make recommendations on transactions above that authority
- Review of financial statements and spreads, projections, cash flow worksheets, and calculation of debt service, liquidity and leverage ratios
- Document larger transactions in a well-organized narrative credit analysis including preparation of Credit Approval Memos for presentation at Committee
- Business and personal financial analysis, credit bureau reports, lien perfection, industry comparisons, and identifying risks and mitigants
- Understand and challenge life-cycle collateral curves provided by Asset Management for various equipment types
- Structuring transactions to mitigate risk and ensuring pricing is appropriate to balance risk and reward
- Assign loan grades/ratings and regulatory risk classification
- Work closely with Sales to identify and review new opportunities
- Working with Operations and occasionally outside legal counsel to address contract modifications and amendments
- Monitoring financial performance of existing accounts including line renewals
- Covenant compliance tracking and testing
- Structure workout scenarios and monitoring on problem accounts
- Risk assessment of potential portfolio acquisitions and new business channels
- Conduct client reviews and implement customer ratings & regulatory classification updates as required by credit policy
Preferred Qualifications
- Ideally have experience using the TSYS platform
- Experience of monitoring covenant compliance on loans and/or revolving facilities
- Proven ability to restructure problem accounts to maximize recovery potential
