Requirements
- 5-15 years performing design, analysis, and/or manufacturing of polymer matrix composites.
- Familiarity with classical laminate theory (CLT).
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials engineering, or similar degree, or a comparable combination of education and applicable experience.
- Experience modelling composite structures in Solidworks, PTC Creo, Siemens NX, or other applicable CAD software.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis software for structural analysis.
- Strong Communication skills.
- Ability to travel to other Anduril sites, customer sites, or supplier sites as business demand dictates. Anticipated 10%-25% travel.
- Exposure to GD&T and standard engineering drafting practices.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Perform initial layout of composite pressure vessels and motor cases.
- Perform detailed design and analysis of composite and metallic structures.
- Generate, review, and release product definition (i.e. engineering drawings).
- Create reports and presentations documenting design, analysis, and manufacturing.
- Present to peers and customers in formal and informal design reviews.
- Support prototyping, manufacturing and test operations onsite at Anduril and external supplier facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with filament winding and hand layup composite manufacturing processes.
- Experience with elastomeric materials, compression molding and autoclave curing processes.
- Design of tooling for filament winding and compression molding processes.
- Experience with propulsion systems and/or composite pressure vessels.
- Experience with composite material characterization.
