Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in applied data science, advanced analytics, and measurement within the mobile apps, gaming, and related DR verticals.
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing and developing teams of 5+ Data Scientists.
- Expertise in designing and analyzing experiments (e.g., A/B testing) and applying causal inference methods to real-world problems.
- Proficiency in SQL and at least one data programming language (Python, R, etc.).
- Deep mobile ad tech and measurement experience, including working on mobile attribution logic, mobile identity graphs, mobile ad delivery optimization, and mobile measurement partners.
- Strong understanding of statistical concepts, including causal modeling, time series analysis, sampling approaches, and data mining techniques.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with modern BI tools (e.g., Hex, Mode, Looker, Tableau) to create clear, insightful visualizations and reports.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-impact results in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with the digital advertising ecosystem, including campaign measurement and performance optimization for Brand and Direct Response campaigns.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead a mission-driven team of Data Scientists, driving measurable impact in Discord’s mobile and gaming-centric advertising ecosystem through advanced measurement analytics and scalable reporting solutions.
- Own the measurement strategy, operations, goals, and learning plans for large customer verticals, ensuring alignment with advertiser needs and business objectives.
- Design, implement, and evaluate experimental and causal analytics frameworks to improve ad performance and advertiser ROI.
- Collaborate with Data, Sales, Product, and Product Marketing leadership to refine and enhance Discord’s ad product GTM through data-driven insights with a high bar of scientific rigor.
- Build and oversee measurement operations across first- and third-party solutions, ensuring we deploy robust methodologies and create actionable insights.
- Partner with Product Data Science to conduct meta-analyses at the vertical, market, and country levels, developing ad efficacy research and playbooks rooted in sound data science principles.
- Develop scalable tools and dashboards to deliver actionable insights for sales and advertisers, empowering confident decision-making to improve ROI.
- Enhance data fluency and measurement competency across your team, Sales, and other cross-functional partners through training and collaborative people development projects.
- Act as a trusted advisor and partner to key advertisers to deepen the relationship between Discord, Advertiser, and Agency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a quantitative field such as statistics, economics, computer science, or engineering.
- Experience working directly with the largest global advertisers in mobile gaming, real money gaming, and commerce.
- Proficiency in machine learning models for forecasting, targeting, or personalization within advertising.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and tools, such as BigQuery or AWS.
- Deep understanding of data governance and compliance practices, including responsible use of PII for advertising measurement.
- A track record of developing innovative data science solutions to solve complex business problems.
