Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree Electrical Engineering, Aviation, Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on aviation or aerospace.
  • Strong knowledge of aviation regulations and standards (e.g. FAA, EASA) and experience with aircraft design methodologies.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific tools and technologies (DO-254, DO-160).
  • A strong working knowledge of the STC process.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and design electrical, avionics, connectors and related systems for Hughes’ broadband internet connectivity product, ensuring those designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Select and help source electrical components and materials, considering factors such as reliability, durability, and compatibility with aviation standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems into the overall aircraft design.
  • Develop test plans and procedures, oversee testing activities, and analyze test results to verify the performance and safety of electrical systems.
  • Stay up to date with aviation regulations and certification requirements, and ensure that all electrical systems meet relevant standards and guidelines.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with electrical systems, and develop contingency plans to address unexpected issues.
  • As the team grows, lead and mentor junior electrical engineers, providing guidance and expertise in electrical engineering principles and aviation-specific knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree Electrical Engineering, Aviation, Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design and simulation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
