Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree Electrical Engineering, Aviation, Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
- 7-10 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on aviation or aerospace.
- Strong knowledge of aviation regulations and standards (e.g. FAA, EASA) and experience with aircraft design methodologies.
- Familiarity with industry-specific tools and technologies (DO-254, DO-160).
- A strong working knowledge of the STC process.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and design electrical, avionics, connectors and related systems for Hughes’ broadband internet connectivity product, ensuring those designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Select and help source electrical components and materials, considering factors such as reliability, durability, and compatibility with aviation standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems into the overall aircraft design.
- Develop test plans and procedures, oversee testing activities, and analyze test results to verify the performance and safety of electrical systems.
- Stay up to date with aviation regulations and certification requirements, and ensure that all electrical systems meet relevant standards and guidelines.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with electrical systems, and develop contingency plans to address unexpected issues.
- As the team grows, lead and mentor junior electrical engineers, providing guidance and expertise in electrical engineering principles and aviation-specific knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree Electrical Engineering, Aviation, Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design and simulation.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
