Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Previous experience (e.g., 1+ years) in an advertising, media, management consulting or technology company is strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years relevant accounting-based work experience.
  • Experience in both accounting operations, (e.g., close the books), and technical accounting, (e.g., debits and credits)
  • Experience in public company environment and internal controls over financial reporting a plus.
  • Motivated professional capable of completing tasks and satisfying deadlines in an environment that is dynamic
  • High level of analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of management
  • Strong experience with advanced MS Excel, including pivot tables is required
  • Experience using the Workday ERP is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Perform the tasks necessary to ensure the execution of daily accounting operations for your assigned unit
  • Assist in monthly closing activities to ensure the timely submission of the various financial reporting packages to our VML Regional Team.
  • Apply accounting policies and procedures correctly and consistently
  • Prepare journal entries for your business unit or review the journal entries submitted by other accountants
  • Work with our Shared Service Center to ensure vendors are paid, customer setup is complete, and accounting transactions are properly recorded
  • Respond to queries relating to our reported figures
  • Assist in the resolution of matters between your business unit and other business units in our organization
  • Perform the control activities assigned to you within our internal control framework
  • Work with the Accounting Manager to prepare the following:
  • Monthly submission of various financial reporting packages
  • P&L analysis and commentary
  • Review/analyze balance sheet reconciliations and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Settlement of intercompany balances each month, as well as payment of vendor invoices as they come due
  • Support our SOX compliance efforts by documenting key controls for the monthly closing file and preparing for SOX audits
  • Assist business unit client finance teams and assist in other ad hoc projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in public company environment and internal controls over financial reporting a plus.
  • Experience using the Workday ERP is beneficial
