Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in accounting, finance and or business administration
- 3+ years relevant experience required
- Must be organized to prioritize multiple tasks
- A quick learner with complex processes and excel models
- Must be diligent and reliable in order to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work through and develop complex processes with a focus on continuously looking for areas of improvement
- Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and collaborate with teams across multiple departments
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post month-end journal entries and adjustments
- Manage Kobo Plus month-end close processes
- Lead review of content financial reporting for accuracy and completeness
- Deliver performance insights by analyzing actual and forecasted financials to support data-driven decision-making
- Generate and distribute Kobo Writing Life reporting
- Prepare Tolino reporting packages
- Create and maintain gift card reporting
- Prepare Kobo Plus reporting and present monthly performance results to internal stakeholders
- Partner with Kobo Originals team to develop KPIs to drive profitability
- Ensure balance sheet reconciliations (Deferred revenue, Cash receivable & Accrued liabilities/receivables) are accurate, complete, and in compliance with accounting standards
- Highlight financial risks as required
- Drive continuous improvement in reconciliation processes to enhance efficiency, reducing manual effort and increasing focus on analytics and insights
- Content operations lead on external and internal financial audits
- Act as subject matter expert on various areas of content business
- Ensure accurate and timely payments to publishers
- Oversee the resolution of failed payments to KWL authors, ensuring efficient processes across systems. Act as the primary liason between the Accounts Payable team, the bank, SAP developers, and business stakeholders to streamline workflows and enhance payment operations
- Lead development initiatives to enhance efficiency within SAP, including payments, approval workflows, reporting and controls. Continuously identify and implement process improvements to optimize system performance and business operations
- Ad hoc requests and special projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with SAP or similar ERP
- Knowledge of SQL is an asset
- Accounting designation
