Requirements

  • Master’s degree in library/information science (or similar) from an institution accredited by the American Library Association.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in progressively complex library technologies such as open-source integrated library systems, electronic library material administration, and virtual help desk systems.
  • Experience with analysis of data bases, datasets, and statistics
  • Skill in writing and editing documents at a professional level
  • Superior customer service skills and ability to professionally collaborate with peers and upper management.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust US Government Clearance Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage organization and business improvement services of the Information Center and Library.
  • Include methodology development and evaluation, process re-engineering, best practices development, change management, organizational development, data modeling/data synthesis, and system integration and alignment.
  • Manage library processes to improve services to NIC constituents in the field, students at the Academy, and federal partners in the NIC in Aurora, Colorado.
  • Responsible for maintaining subject matter expertise of the corrections field by monitoring corrections literature, public policy, court cases, and various other information outlets.
  • Managing and integrating library and content management systems.
  • Manage the NIC Information Center’s physical & virtual library collection, on-line resources, and bibliographies.
  • Administer access to the library through a virtual checkout system for e-books, audiobooks, and material of interest to the corrections field.
  • Managing and administering NIC blogs, forums, and social media.
  • Make presentations to National Corrections Academy classes and meetings about NIC and the Information Center, or about the relevant corrections topic; conduct compliance review and implement modifications to NIC documents to meet standards of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • Administer coding of MARC records for copy and original cataloging.
  • Collaborate with fellow librarians, information specialists, managers, and NIC partners on NIC and Information Center initiatives.
  • Conduct web content editing via HTML and Drupal and providing staff training.
