Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Law, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in payments operations, compliance, or risk management, with a significant focus on SWIFT systems and international payments
  • Proven experience in managing compliance programs and industry relations in the financial services sector
  • Strong background in data analysis and metrics management
  • Deep understanding of SWIFT messaging standards, compliance regulations (e.g., AML, sanctions), and international payment systems
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • In-depth understanding of AML, FINTRAC, KYC, OFAC sanctions, and other regulatory frameworks related to cross-border payments
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume payment operations environments
  • Proven leadership and team management experience

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and management of compliance frameworks for GPDO, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements (e.g., AML, KYC, sanctions screening, and ISO 20022)
  • Monitor regulatory developments in the payments industry, ensuring timely updates and adaptations to internal policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with internal legal and compliance teams to manage audits, internal reviews, and regulatory examinations related to GPDO
  • Develop and lead training programs to keep the GPDO team informed of compliance requirements and regulatory updates
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies related to payments, ensuring the identification, assessment, and mitigation of potential operational and regulatory risks
  • Coordinate with the internal Risk Management team to ensure that payment processes adhere to the organization’s risk tolerance levels and industry standards
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external regulatory agencies and SWIFT regarding compliance and risk matters
  • Establish and manage a robust monitoring and reporting system to track compliance metrics and identify potential risks or breaches
  • Prepare and present regular compliance reports to executive leadership and regulatory authorities, as required
  • Respond promptly to regulatory inquiries or audits related to wire payments and oversee the remediation of any identified issues
  • Work closely with internal teams, including Operations, IT, Risk Management, AML, Internal Audit, and Legal, to ensure compliance requirements are embedded in payment processes and systems
  • Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams on compliance-related matters, and act as a liaison with regulators and industry bodies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external regulatory bodies, industry groups, and SWIFT network stakeholders
  • Design and implement training programs for staff on SWIFT wire payments compliance, ensuring awareness of regulatory changes and compliance best practices
  • Promote a strong compliance culture within the organization, emphasizing the importance of regulatory adherence and ethical behavior
  • Continuously assess and enhance compliance processes, leveraging technology and data analytics to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Collaborate with technology teams to ensure that payment systems are configured to support compliance requirements, such as automated sanctions screening and transaction monitoring

  • Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA) or professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, CTP, or CRCM) are highly desirable
