Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with a mix of public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and in-house (startup or high-growth company preferred)
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls and audit processes.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting technical accounting memos and policies.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Netsuite preferred) and accounting research tools.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the in-house expert on technical accounting matters, including but not limited to revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), business combinations (ASC 805), stock-based compensation (ASC 718), and financial instruments (ASC 815). Prepare technical memos documenting positions and conclusions.
  • Monitor new accounting pronouncements and lead the implementation of relevant standards within business processes and systems cross-functionally.
  • Take charge of ad hoc projects, leading them from start to finish with minimal guidance.
  • Identify and drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and scalability efforts as the business grows.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to accounting team members on complex transactions.
  • Assist in preparing internal and external financial statements, investor reporting, and audit deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or government contracting highly desirable. Strong understanding of cost accounting, government compliance (FAR/DFARS), and project accounting a plus.
