Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 years experience with server, storage, and networking hardware in various enterprise-level environments.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 85% – 90% of the time
  • Ability to conduct clear and concise communication in English (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Basic knowledge of subnetting (Ex. 255.255.255.0 = /24)
  • Ability to identify power circuits and circuit breakers
  • Ability to properly identify various device port assignments
  • Ability to identify various power receptacle types (NEMA 5-15, C13/14/15, C19/20, L5-20, L6-30…etc).
  • Thorough understanding of console connectivity and OOB management functionality
  • Ability to properly identify various device port types (RJ45-Console, DB9, SFP, RJ45 Ethernet).
  • Ability to properly identify various fiber optic cables and optics (LC, SC, FC, Single Mode, Multimode, SR vs LR Optics).
  • Ability to properly terminate and test CAT5 and CAT6 cables (Keystones, punch down panels and ends).
  • Ability to properly run power/data cables, label and dress to Trace3 standards
  • Thorough comprehension of fiber and copper patch panel function and A-Z port identification

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent analysis and provide tailored recommendations to customers regarding their unique IT hardware in production and lab environments.
  • Independently research /resolve unforeseen technical problems, with only general oversight or supervision.
  • Recommend network layout in conjunction with building structural components to safely and securely accommodate wall-mounted infrastructure.
  • Provide infrastructure, cabling, and device installation/decommissioning for all types of enterprise-level equipment and infrastructure in various environments, ensuring that there is no negative impact on production networks.
  • Identify and configure OOB management interfaces on various devices for remote access (computing, storage, and networking).
  • Perform firmware and/or troubleshoot BIOS updates on server, storage, and networking hardware platforms.
  • Configure various devices (laptops, desktops, servers, switches) with static IP addresses, subnets, gateways, and DNS servers designed to meet customers’ unique needs.
  • Develop documentation to maintain accurate records of customer computers, servers, and network systems.
  • Conduct client-facing meetings (in person/virtual) professionally.
  • Assist in performing root cause analysis
  • Determine when/if escalation to management is necessary
  • Provide guidance to lower-level technicians to ensure best practices are met
  • Provide remote console access to various devices via WebEx, Teams, or Zoom screen-sharing
  • May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior MSP experience desired
  • CompTIA A+ certification desired
  • CompTIA Network+ and Cisco CCNA certifications desired
  • Fundamental understanding of all Office365 products and their operation
