Senior Principal Project Engineer

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Conduct project leadership over the entire development life cycle including bids, project management, design, requirements capture, coding, integration, verification, and certification
Provide technical leadership and accountability for team and project performance
Demonstrate a passion for coaching and mentoring
Possess engineering skills, critical and innovative thinking, strategic planning, and an ability to build and motivate a team
Identify, recruit, retain, and develop engineering talent across the spectrum of entry-level to highly experienced engineers
Build and leverage networks within the department and within Collins Aerospace
Communicate well with a wide variety of individuals including Engineering, Program Management, internal leadership, and customers
Leverage advanced principles, theories, and concepts of complex technical subjects to provide direction for direct reports
Ensure compliance to development processes and standard work requirements
Strive to spend time performing technical tasks and oversight while also spending time on people management, schedules and/or budgets

Experience in development of engineering solutions to support military ground and airborne platforms
Direct experience in the development of bid and proposal efforts
Experience/knowledge of communications systems
