Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.
  • 5 years of experience using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the subsystem or individual consumer electronics part designs from concept to production.
  • Work with global manufacturing suppliers and partners of subsystems, and drive individual part design from concept to production.
  • Create and publish detailed 3D CAD and 2D drawings for your design models, search out and select materials, components, and sub-systems for the design elements you study for feasibility and consumer value.
  • Build and troubleshoot prototypes, analyze results of reliability testing/FEA simulation, iteratively improve the design, and mature the design sufficiently for the next stage of development.
  • Design for function, reliability, human factors, manufacturability, and cosmetic requirements. Travel in order to meet with suppliers and support system manufacturing during product development stages.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience in consumer product design.
  • Experience with multiple manufacturing methods used in consumer products.
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers around the world on part manufacturing and final assembly, including onsite factory support.
  • Experience shipping multiple consumer products in a lead or executive engineer role.
  • Experience with system integration, including electro-mechanical components (e.g., audio, display, camera, antenna, etc.), waterproofing, thermals, grounding, or product architecture.
  • Knowledge of NX.
