Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a System Designer, in addition to previously working as a product designer.
- Expert in Figma, with experience creating, maintaining, and evolving design libraries, and expertise in design systems tools and workflows (e.g., Storybook, design tokens).
- Experience designing for cross-platform Consumer and/or enterprise web products with a strong foundation in platform constraints and capabilities.
- A track record of governing and contributing to design systems by defining standards, delivering impactful, scalable solutions, and driving adoption across teams and platforms.
- Confident in your ability to break down and solve complex problems, balancing tactical execution with system-level thinking.
- Recognized as a trusted partner and mentor, fostering growth and collaboration by empowering peers and cross-functional teams to adopt best practices and deliver scalable design solutions.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity while bringing clarity to challenges that span design, technology, and business needs.
- An understanding of A/B testing and how to use data to inform and iterate on design decisions.
- A passion for accessibility and inclusive design, with a commitment to ensuring all components meet industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and evolve component libraries in Figma, refining designs based on user feedback, testing, and insights from cross-functional teams.
- Intake requests (new or improved) based on business and/or system needs and actively facilitate prioritization with engineering.
- Partner with feature teams and embed with business initiatives to drive adoption, define scalable design system requirements, and influence Hawkins’ roadmap to align with emerging business needs.
- Collaborate directly with engineering teams to build components based on robust design specs, rooted in technical and feature team requirements.
- Contribute to governance frameworks, ensuring alignment across teams and platforms.
- Ensure that all components adhere to Hawkins quality standards (e.g., accessibility, motion, theming, etc.) and best practices by default.
- Champion the design system by advocating best practices and providing real-time support through office hours and Slack.
