Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in an equivalent technology risk, corporate governance, product development, or compliance related role
  • Degree or formal certification in Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, or other relevant quantitative or engineering field

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Machine Learning Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and Data Governance, to ensure the successful execution of projects, maintaining alignment with business objectives and timelines.
  • Work with the Responsible AI Team to operationalize Responsible AI policies and procedures.
  • Develop deep technical understanding of the foundational components of Workday’s machine learning architecture including infrastructure, APIs, third party services, etc.
  • Investigate and understand evolving business and compliance needs from new machine learning technologies.
  • Collaborate with Workday’s ML Engineers to brainstorm and prototype innovative solutions and engineering pipelines.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to colleagues advising their business partners in the development of machine learning features.
  • Act as the technical expert as needed to support external (customer or other independent 3rd party) evaluation of Workday’s machine learning practices against new or existing regulations, frameworks, or standards.
  • Assist in the education and development of collateral supporting customer adoption of machine learning features.
  • Ensure that data is obtained, processed, protected, and retained in compliance with Workday’s contractual agreements, internal policies and standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform assessments based on industry and regulatory frameworks and best practices to identify potential data risks – including those related to the confidentiality, integrity, availability, privacy, and security of data.
  • Collaborate with business teams to assess legal, privacy, and data risks using industry / regulatory frameworks, and advising on technical and / or operational options to mitigate those risks.
  • Create on-demand resources to empower Workmates with the information needed to anticipate and potentially prevent data and privacy risks.
  • Represent Workday’s responsible innovation to customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, and/or Machine Learning methods and concepts including algorithm development and evaluation
  • Familiarity with, or strong interest in, Responsible AI concepts such as fairness, transparency, human oversight, etc
  • Strong program management skills with ability to plan and execute on various projects with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates accountability in setting deadlines, delivering on project commitments, and resetting expectations when appropriate.
  • Keen understanding of compliance-by-design and privacy-by-design principles and demonstrates the ability to educate others on potential solutions to complex problems.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills in cultivating relationships amongst members of the Data & Privacy Engineering team as well as external business partners.
  • Exhibits practical experience identifying, assessing, and advising on compliance / privacy risks or controls for new products and technologies.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn in an environment that is frequently changing.
  • Familiarity with compliance reports, certifications and standards as they relate to Software as a Service and Cloud Computing, such as ISO 42001 and NIST AI Risk Management Framework.
