Requirements
- Juris Doctorate (JD) degree
- 6+ years of experience as a practicing attorney in house
- Experience acting as product counsel for a company
- Qualified candidates must have an active license to practice law and be in good standing in the applicable state(s) of employment by the position start date (or as otherwise permitted by state rules)
- At all times of employment, qualified candidates must remain in good standing and maintain an active license to practice law in their applicable state(s) of employment
- Knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and experience applying the FCRA in a product counsel setting
- Must possess experience and confidence to provide advice to senior level executives to further business strategy while protecting the company from legal, regulatory or reputational risk
- The role requires sophisticated and impactful legal counseling with internal solutions team leaders. These leaders rely upon clear, well-articulated and succinct communication from legal to guide high-level decision making and strategy.
Responsibilities
- Serve as product attorney for the credit risk solutions business group reviewing new products and enhancements to products.
- Advise internal clients on legal issues and the implications of alternative positions to enable informed business decisions.
- Maintain primary responsibility for drafting template agreements for new products or solutions.
- Negotiate partner and data provider agreements.
- Provide advice to stakeholders regarding changes in the law, contracts, or other legal issues that may involve the company’s short or long-term strategic operations.
- Responsible for keeping abreast of current legislative and regulatory developments that may have an impact upon operations.
- Assists other attorneys on various matters including those which present potential for litigation.
- Maintain complete confidentiality of company-related business.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience advising clients with regard to and negotiating financial, data, and technology agreements in a regulated environment
- Knowledge and understanding of the following areas of law: GLBA, US state privacy laws
