About the team

What you’ll do

As a Senior Credit Risk Operations Manager, you will conduct credit risk reviews of Airwallex’s clients to help build a strong and diverse portfolio of customers and apply appropriate risk-mitigation measures across Airwallex’s suite of products. The team works collaboratively with merchants, business development teams, transaction risk analysts, compliance and legal departments to support growth objectives while mitigating and managing risk.

This role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage our credit risk exposure across all relevant product offerings

  • Evaluate credit risk across payment acceptance for credit cards, bank payments, local payment methods

  • Drive our Know-Your-Business (KYB) processes and evaluate prospective merchants to build a diversified portfolio

  • Define and drive our global credit risk performance KPI and ensure KPI achievement 

  • Establish and continuous iteration around credit risk management (incl. vetting, investigating and monitoring) related standard operating procedures 

  • Provide full transparency and visibility of global credit risk performance via structured risk dashboard and reporting 

  • Proactive global stakeholder management and engagement to continuously improve risk awareness

Minimum qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in risk operations or a similar field

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for identifying and addressing challenges

  • Skilled in analyzing feedback patterns and leveraging insights to drive process and product enhancements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ensuring clarity and effectiveness

  • Ability to thrive both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Proven track record of managing multiple priorities while meeting deadlines efficiently

  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy

  • Deep empathy for entrepreneurs and a passion for solving problems that empower businesses

  • A proactive mindset, with the ability and willingness to challenge the status quo

  • Ownership-driven, accountable, and motivated to achieve ambitious goals

Preferred qualifications:

  • Expertise in risk assessment and mitigation strategies within financial technology

  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools, including SQL

  • Familiarity with risk management concepts such as card brand monitoring, compliance, and KYB/KYC requirements

  • Experience managing financial partnerships and relationships

  • Background in regulatory compliance within financial services

  • Demonstrated success in tracking operational metrics and driving process improvements

  • In-depth knowledge of payment processing systems and their associated risks
