Requirements
- At least 10 years’ experience as a Satcom & RF expert in SATCOM, Wi-Fi, LTE, and RF systems
- Expertise in Satellite link calculations, both uplink and downlink to determine earth station antenna specifications required to meet system requirements
- Competent with Antenna Theory as applicable to Satellite Communications
- Expertise in Frequency Bandwidth/Spectrum planning and interference mitigation
- Experience in Waveguide Design, Satellite performance testing, and measurements
- Satcom & RF Hardware research and acquisition experience
- Advanced Satcom hardware components packaging, systems design, testing, and integration
- Troubleshooting skills in Satellite components performance analysis
- Strong customer interface and collaboration with the Satellite industry
- Excellent communication/presentation, and briefing skills
- Technical and narrative writing experience is highly desirable
Responsibilities
- Designing customer-specific Satcom Systems and the integration of Satcom component sub-systems. Managing and supporting the production of such systems through all phases of the process (from inception through research, development to assembly & testing)
- Performing research, design, development, testing, and integration of Satcom and RF hardware systems or products as follows, through the customer requirement analysis. Requires integration, testing, performance analysis, and compilation of engineering data, and final delivery of the product along with the operational document for the field engineers
- Managing Satcom engineering projects from concept to delivery of hardware solutions to assure technical adequacy to meet customer operational requirements and conformance with DoD standards and practices
- Acting as the primary interface to customers, providing updates, cost estimates, bill of materials (BOM), project schedules, and recommendations on engineering solutions. May provide briefings and technical training on satellite communications (Satcom) and radio frequency (RF) systems and products to internal and external teams
- Maintains liaison with other engineering and scientific organizations to keep abreast of developments in similar fields or programs and coordinates group activities with those of other engineering groups. Introducing new technology into system designs to enhance Satcom performance and/or reduce costs
- Comprehensive analysis, reporting, and systems-level design documentation is a MUST. May manage the technical performance of assigned support personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance with a Polygraph is highly desired. In lieu of active clearance, the candidate must be able to obtain and maintain clearance.
- BS degree in EE, preferably MS in EE (with a focus on Communications, Satellite Systems Design & Antenna Theory). In lieu of a formal degree, 15 years of Satcom & RF engineering or applied science work experience.
