Senior Staff Data Engineer

12+ years of professional software development experience
4+ years of domain expertise in Online Advertising with emphasis in Performance Marketing
Distributed systems experience is a must: should be skilled at designing, implementing, and maintaining systems at scale, and working on tradeoffs based on business demand
Proven results applying ML and other data-driven techniques appropriately to solve difficult optimization problems
Experience with open-source frameworks and technologies like AWS, NoSQL, Big Data Technologies (Flink, Spark, Kafka, Elastic Search, Hive, Iceberg, Hudi etc.)
Expertise in at least two major languages: C/C++, Go, Java, Python, etc.
Excellent coding skills, with emphasis on data structures, algorithms, problem solving, refactoring, performance improvement and complexity analysis

Comfortable working and learning in an agile, fast-paced environment
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field

Design, develop, and automate large-scale, real-time streaming data systems to drive business growth and enhance product experience
Build scalable data infrastructure and pipelines using best-in-class software engineering practices
Develop optimal data models for storage and retrieval, meeting critical product and business requirements
Take full ownership: from development to operational health
Establish and execute short and long-term architectural roadmaps
Drive continuous improvement to the efficiency and flexibility of the data, platform, and services while maintaining a high bar for customer trust, performance, and availability
Work with adjacent organizations to collaborate and drive solutions for ML serving and other processes
Contribute to shared data engineering tools and standards, enhancing productivity and quality across Growth Engineering as well as Coupang as a whole

Experience dealing with both real-time model serving and feature engineering
Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Experience with internet-scale datasets
Experience communicating with users, other technical teams and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs and product strategy
Experience influencing software engineering best practices
Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between
Experience working backwards from the customer and delivering innovative, simple solutions
Master of Science in Computer Science or equivalent
