Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance
  • CPA designation (or close to completion) or Masters in Taxation preferred
  • At least three years of corporate income tax or auditing/accounting experience in public accounting or an international corporation
  • Proficiency with Corporate Taxprep, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions for entities in various jurisdictions
  • Preparation of Canadian income tax returns including but not limited to T2, T5013, T106 and T1134
  • Preparation and filing of periodical indirect tax returns to entities in various jurisdictions
  • Assistance in monthly tax account review and analysis, draft journal entries including tax account reconciliations
  • Assist with the preparation of responses to tax related annual audit information requests
  • Assist with government audits, prepare responses to queries, and review assessments
  • Liaise with regional finance teams, AP, and treasury team to support tax-related information requests
  • Assist with template development and automation opportunities on tax calculation workbooks
  • Responsible for managing project timelines, including coordinating preparation schedules and communicating timelines to management
  • Assist with the preparation of ad-hoc analysis and management reporting to provide tax input as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of CPA in-depth Tax Program level I to III (or working towards) is an asset
  • Experience with tax accounting, tax provisions and international tax preferred
  • Experience with indirect tax filing and EIFEL rules is considered an asset
  • Experience with Looker, Dynamics GP or Workday is an asset
  • Comfortable with large amounts of data and strong documentation skills
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities and excellent attention to detail
  • Aptitude to work both independently and as a team member in a dynamic environment
  • Self-motivated person who takes initiative and ownership to improve tax related processes and procedures
