Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or obtain certification during new hire period.
- Prior job or educational experience providing basic computer knowledge and skills.
Responsibilities
- Prepare units, patient rooms, and patient beds for receiving patient admission, returning surgical patients, transfer, or emergencies.
- Provide and document assigned care, such as bathing, changing/refreshing bed linens, dressing/undressing, feeding, etc.
- Take and document the patient’s temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight, and height.
- Perform treatment procedures, such as venous blood draws, enemas, application of ice and heat packs, non-sterile compresses, skin preps, setting up oxygen equipment, bed scale weights, setting up overhead trapeze and Buck’s traction.
- Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients with proper body mechanics, applying/utilizing special equipment and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner.
- Assist and accompany patients during admission, transfer and discharge.
- Perform hourly safety rounds, anticipate patient needs and respond to patient call lights promptly.
- Document patient care in the electronic medical record.
- Complete ongoing competency requirements, education programs and mandatory training to maintain certification and/or licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
- State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA).
- One year of recent acute care experience.
