Requirements
- An in-depth knowledge of theory, installation, operation and maintenance of natural gas distribution and/or meter systems; associated equipment and emergency response is required.
- Ability to accurately interpret codes, standards, and technical data and to read complex schematics, diagrams, prints, and layouts.
- Ability to plan, design, develops, conduct, and coordinate effective skills and methods training programs.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to present theory and concepts, as well as hands-on technical instruction with clarity, confidence and enthusiasm.
- Ability to use personal computer and traditional office software and computer tracking system.
- Ability to apply sound judgment; strong customer focus.
- Handle responsibilities with integrity and the highest standards of professionalism.
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Five (5) to Eight (8) years of related experience.
Responsibilities
- Plans, designs, develops, coordinates, schedules and conducts technical training related to Gas operations, associated equipment, and emergency procedures.
- Responsible for student and training facility safety.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory and company work rules and training requirements.
- Develops a high proficiency knowledge of Training Department policies, procedures, processes, and documentation.
- Provides initial and remedial training for employees covered under the Eversource Operator Qualification (OQ) program per 49 CFR 192, Subpart N.
- Facilitates and oversees OQ performance evaluations – ensuring a fair and secure testing environment while efficiently processing individuals through their required evaluations.
- Works with field personnel and supervisors to analyze job tasks and current field performance to determine training needs and program content.
- Designs and develops effective training programs and materials. (Including hands-on simulations and/or videos) which comply with all Company, State & Federal requirements (49 CFR 192).
- Provides technical training to meet the requirements of the Company’s Apprentice programs.
- Identifies technical training needs related to gas systems and associated equipment including emergency procedures.
- Identifies pertinent safety issues and incorporates them into training programs.
- Reviews and evaluates new and existing work methods, practices, procedures, and regulations and ensures training materials are compliant with current company and regulatory requirements.
- Provides on-the-job technical training, as required.
- Interprets local, state, and federal codes for field personnel, as required.
- Provides training and assistance to other Eversource departments, as necessary.
- Represents the Training Department during on-site audits of training activities with State and Federal regulators.
- Maintenance and care of training facilities and equipment.
- Responsible for managing the level and condition of tools & parts needed within their discipline.
- Mentors new Technical Trainers, as assigned.
- Assist Gas Engineering and/or Operations with the analysis of new tools and equipment, as needed.
- Assist Gas Engineering and/or Operations with post-incident analysis of tools, equipment and/or materials, as needed.
- Represent Eversource on industry committees, professional societies and joint study groups as assigned.
- Assist with receiving and stocking incoming inventory to the Training Facility.
- Assist with maintaining and overseeing Training Department vehicles.
- Assist with Quarterly Training Facility Safety Audits.
- Assist maintaining, tracking, and documenting equipment calibration within their assigned discipline and/or space.
- Assist overseeing discipline specific programs (incl. apprentice, refresher, OQ); acts as key point of contact for Gas Operations and Gas Training Dept Leadership regarding training activities.
- Assist with scheduling and conducting operations pre-screens (MA Only)
Preferred Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of Eversource Employee Safety Manual, preferred
- Thorough knowledge of Eversource Construction Standards and Materials, Tool and Equipment work practices and procedures, operation and maintenance relevant to the particular discipline to which the employee is assigned, preferred.
- Field and Training experienced preferred.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain CDL, preferred.
