Requirements
- At least 5+ years of hands-on experience designing for a production environment. High volume, consumer electronics or sensing experience is a plus.
- Demonstrate a solid grasp of fundamental concepts in mechanical engineering, including materials characterization, solid mechanics, beam statics, Newtonian physics, and thermodynamics.
- Experience in data and statistical analysis, including Monte Carlo simulations, design of experiments, and response surface modeling.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical design analysis of sensing modules under critical loading conditions to ensure that performance requirements are met across all design and process variations.
- Work with a dedicated multifunctional team to generate design concepts and quantify performance impacts through complex analytical models for various sensing technologies within Apple’s portfolio of products.
- Identify and quantify design tradeoffs and risks to choose viable paths forward.
- Apply robust mechanical analysis, experimental design and statistical analysis to reduce risk early in the product development cycle.
- Collaborate with multi-functional team and analysts to fully define design space, perform analysis and complete correlation and validation activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3D CAD experience for design and manufacturing (Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo or similar).
- Ability to perform complex computational modeling or finite element analysis for various physics-related applications.
- Proficiency in Matlab or Python specifically for data analysis, visualization and workflow automation. Ability to deploy scalable solutions to users (such as web applications) is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills; ability to interact and collaborate with management, team members and external vendors to achieve project goals, and give positively to the engineering community.
