Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience working with non-porous metals, such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless
  • 4+ years of experience using structures hand tools such as: drills 45 and 90 degrees, pancake adapters, counter sink cages, hole finders, and rivet guns
  • 4+ years of experience working heavy structures: locating, drilling, countersinking, and fastening structures (doublers, stringers, webs, seat tracks, etc.)
  • Must be within 12 months of separating/retiring from the U.S. Armed Forces

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly and disassembly operations of aircraft structures for repair and modification in accordance with DOD, manufacturer, company, supplier and other directives. All duties performed under general supervision.
  • Workers are expected to be willing to work on multiple aircraft platforms for the expansion of skill and knowledge base.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
  • Able to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, etc..
  • Removes and replaces existing fasteners without damaging the product.
  • Ability to pick up existing fasteners with transfer punches or back drill and lay out new fastener patterns for aircraft skin replacements for MRO type repairs to engineering specifications.
  • Properly installs common fasteners, high locks with nuts or collars, rivets, jo-bolts wet or dry.
  • Performs close tolerance drilling, reaming. Experience with close tolerance dimensions.
  • Able to remove and install fasteners in confined/limited space situations utilizing specialty tooling such as the following:45- and 90-degree drills, pancake drills offset and C type rivet sets and Rivet Squeeze tooling.
  • Performs tasks to specification in a timely manner while incorporating safety and quality processes.
  • Able to setup and use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as: dial indicators, micrometers, gauges, protractors, and calipers, etc..
  • Able to use common hand tools such as: drills, reamers, deburrers, files, rivet guns, bucking bars, etc..
  • Able to assemble aircraft structures and associated components with the aid of jigs and fixtures by drilling, filing, filling, honing, reaming, counter-sinking, dimpling, burring and fastening under general supervision.
  • With supervision, perform close tolerance assembly operations such as: shimming, fitting, trimming, and aligning where variances may occur considerably from one assembly to another as with fairings and the mating of major structural assemblies.
  • Able to replace ribs, stiffeners, stringers in skinned assemblies establishing from blueprints with firm callouts, butt, center, chord, station and water lines.
  • Able to pickup blind hole locations for blank parts from existing structure. Also, able to correct cans, buckles, wrinkles in outer skins.
  • Able to operate such equipment as brakes, grinders, band saws, and presses.
  • Able to identify different types of corrosion, and with supervision clean and treat corrosion, remove damaged areas, fabricate parts to repair damaged area, determine rivet patterns, layouts, etc..
  • Able to effectively communicate, orally and written, with other employees, members of management, and others, as required in their duties.
  • Able to clearly document maintenance and repair actions, equipment status tags, logs, parts requests, etc.
  • Able to perform assigned duties while wearing required safety equipment.
  • Able to perform assigned duties on all shifts without encumbrances due to weather or physical location and conditions.
  • Order parts, pan stock, tools, materials, and equipment as required to perform assigned duties.
  • Responsible for complying with all rules and regulations concerning health and safety, FOD, Quality, tool control, contracts, facilities and other pertinent coverages.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management for the benefit of the company, program, or employee(s).
  • Proficient with a PC with the ability to learn new systems (I-Gold, IETMS etc.
  • Ability to start and see a task/job through to completion.
  • Works independently and also in team environment as well.
  • Willingness to work with and lead newer/less experienced employees to show them the proper way to perform tasks.
  • The position requires compliance to SA Site Tool and FOD procedure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Depot Level/Heavy Structures Maintenance
  • Experience working on or around Executive Fleet Platform
  • Experience operating a forklift, mobile crane, or riding type electric powered elevating equipment to accomplish work assignment
