Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience
- Proficiency in video editing software and creative tools, such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, or similar, as well as experience with in-app editing tools on various social platforms
- Strong storytelling skills with the ability to develop compelling scripts and storyboards
- In-depth knowledge of social media platforms, their best practices, asset specifications, and audience engagement strategies
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in copywriting and captions
- A strong grasp of video advertising strategies and how to use video to advance messaging goals
- Ability to leverage both data and intuition to inform content strategy
- Familiarity with accessibility best practices—or a willingness to learn
Responsibilities
- Brainstorm and create engaging content for our social media platforms, including videos, audio, memes, GIFs, and other visual assets
- Write video scripts and develop storyboards that resonate with target audiences and drive engagement
- Film and edit social-first videos, incorporating graphics, music, text overlays, and other platform-specific elements
- Collaborate with social media managers, brand and communications team members, and other stakeholders to align content with broader communications objectives
- Produce video content for advertising campaigns, including for social platforms and pre-roll
- Stay up to date with the latest social media trends, tools, and best practices to ensure content remains relevant
- Tailor content for different social media platforms—including but not limited to Instagram, Threads, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, and YouTube Shorts—optimizing for format, tone, and audience
- Experiment with new formats, techniques, and trends to keep content fresh, innovative, and relatable
- Monitor video content performance and provide insights and recommendations for future improvements
- Travel to events, meetings, or on-location production shoots as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Enthusiasm for CZI’s mission, particularly in AI-driven research and technology
- Previous experience creating social-first video content on complex science topics is a plus
- Comfort in front of the camera and/or experience with voiceovers is a plus
