About our Team:
On the Valor Labs Team, we develop cutting edge machine learning models to derive proprietary investment insights and build software applications to augment the Firm’s investment decision making process. As a small team of software engineers and data scientists with diverse backgrounds, we work collaboratively on wide-ranging problems to deliver high impact products for the Firm.
About the Role:
As a Software Engineer, Infrastructure & Backend, you will take ownership of critical backend services and infrastructure initiatives that power our growing platform. Working at the intersection of application development and cloud infrastructure, you’ll lead technical design, build scalable backend systems, automate cloud environments, and streamline our deployment pipelines. In addition to coding, you’ll play a key role in architectural decision-making and foster an engineering culture that values collaboration, high-quality standards, and security-conscious development.
This role is perfect for a senior engineer who is excited about DevOps best practices, modern cloud architecture, Infrastructure as Code, and building robust backend services. About You:
- 5+ years of relevant work experience, not including internships
- Proficient with Python and SQL
- Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools (GitHub Actions preferred)
- Expertise with cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred)
- Expertise with container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
- Strong background in backend development and distributed systems
- Strong knowledge of security best practices
Your Responsibilities Would Include:
- Backend Development: Design, develop, and optimize backend services, APIs, and
microservices, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability - Infrastructure Automation: Implement and maintain cloud environments using
Infrastructure as Code, and continuously refine CI/CD pipelines - Technical Leadership: Participate in architectural discussions, guide engineering
decisions, and mentor more junior engineers on DevOps and cloud services - Monitoring & Reliability: Set up logging, monitoring, and alerting to ensure system
health and rapid issue resolution - Continuous Improvement: Evaluate new tools and technologies, champion process
improvements, and contribute to a culture of innovation and collaboration
