Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or equivalent education/experience
  • ARDMS-American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Eligible for Level I
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire for Level I
  • ARDMS-American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Upon Hire for Level II
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire for Level II
  • Must possess two (2) of the following certifications for Level II: AB-Abdomen certification, BR-Breast certification, FE-Fetal Echocardiography certification, OB/GYN-Obstetrics & Gynecology certification, PS-Pediatric Sonography certification, RVT-Registered Vascular Technician certification
  • ARDMS-American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Upon Hire for Level III
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire for Level III
  • Must possess three (3) of the following certifications for Level III: AB-Abdomen certification, BR-Breast certification, FE-Fetal Echocardiography certification, OB/GYN-Obstetrics & Gynecology certification, PS-Pediatric Sonography certification, RVT-Registered Vascular Technician certification, NTQR-Nuchal Translucency Quality Review (required within 1 year for Maternal Fetal Medicine)

Responsibilities

  • Follow clearly defined diagnostic sonography procedures to deliver high quality images to physicians and other health care providers for the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and prevention of injury or disease
  • Integrate education, technical competence and patient interaction skills to execute safe and precise procedures to deliver accurate results in a timely manner
  • Gain confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring, and effective communication
  • Adhere to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years basic clinical and practical experience as typically acquired during an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program for Sonographer Level I or II
  • 5 years clinical and practical experience for Sonographer Level III
