Requirements

  • A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety and health or related degree preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in safety or related field with 10 or more years of progressive experience in Safety and Health and pursuing a B.S. degree.
  • Obtained or plan to obtain certification as a Graduate Safety Professional (GSP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for industrial hygiene program at the site. Coordinate with the Region 1 and Corporate Industrial Hygienist to schedule the annual sampling and ensure sampling results are entered in Cority.
  • Serve as radiation safety officer (RSO) for the site.
  • Responsible for managing the contractor safety program.
  • Conduct health and safety orientations for contractors.
  • Conduct Safety and Health training for Westlake employees.
  • Implement systems to improve performance and ensure meeting or exceeding regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure safety needs and concerns are adequately addressed.
  • Identify hazards and risks and hazards using the “Hierarchy of Controls”.
  • Participates in incident investigations, RCAs, PSSR’s, PHA’s as needed.
  • Assists with VPP activities and participates in the VPP team.
  • Solicit feedback from employees to ensure that their concerns and needs are addressed.
  • Communicate and work to facilitate standardized interpretation and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide input into the development and delivery of site and region key metrics.
  • Support emergency response during pre-planning activities and incidents.
  • Routinely audit areas of responsibility and coach/train employees.
  • Enter information and track findings to closure in Cority.
  • Ability to speak in front of groups and management.
  • Create reports and presentations using Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to work turnarounds, nights and weekends as needed.
  • Required to periodically be on call weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety and health or related degree preferred.
