Requirements
- Current speech-language pathology state licensure.
- Current CCC-SLP certification/licensure within the Neurodevelopmental Disorder Unit.
- Eligible to meet Pine Rest Medical Staff credentialing requirements.
- Obtain and maintain in good standing any required certifications commensurate with populations treated.
- Training and experience with patient age groups being served as well as age specific education and demonstrated competence.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the interviewing of patients and assessing care needs via bio-psychosocial domains and speech-language testing as well as reviewing records obtained from other patient care staff and or referral sources.
- Selects and completes appropriate therapeutic interventions based upon clinical knowledge base and educational background. On the Neurodevelopmental Disorder unit this may include evaluation, treatment and group programming.
- Collaborates with other treatment team members regarding patients’ progress through interdisciplinary team meetings, record review, and informal discussions.
- Ensures that all medical record documentation protocols are complied with. Ensures that patients’ speech-language reports and progress notes are entered into the medical records on a timely basis and in accordance with established organizational and departmental procedures.
- May coordinate services and community resources as needed and assist clients in obtaining them.
- Participates regularly in departmental and staff meetings. Serves on programs or organizational committees as required.
- Maintains all applicable Michigan licensure requirements. Builds knowledge of current trends and developments in speech-language pathology through the use of appropriate professional literature, workshops and publications. Fulfills continuing education requirements as per PRCMHS departmental policies and licensure requirements.
- Provides training/supervision to interns or students as assigned.
- Participates in education and training programs for patients, families, or community groups.
- Provides external consultation to professionals, hospitals, organizations, or agencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Augmentative and Alternative Communication Certification preferred within the Neurodevelopmental Disorder Unit.
- 3+ years of clinical experience is preferred.
