Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in software development, with minimum 10 years in Insurance industry
  • 8+ years of proven experience as a data architect or similar role, with a strong understanding of data architecture principles and best practices
  • 5+ years of Snowflake implementation experience in a cloud environment
  • Extensive experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration technologies.
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and data quality methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders and drive aligned outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Refine and articulate the GRS Data North Star architecture, establishing a clear technical vision and strategy for data platforms, products, and systems that align with Liberty Mutual’s overarching business objectives.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the GRS business strategy and associated use cases, ensuring that North Star architectures empower domain teams to achieve their business goals effectively.
  • Create generational roadmaps that facilitate implementation planning toward a desired target state, simplifying our technology footprint while fulfilling business aspirations.
  • Collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders—including business analysts, developers, and data scientists—to ensure seamless alignment between business needs and data solutions.
  • Offer technical leadership and direction to the development teams.
  • Advocate for the needs and perspectives of the GRS data architecture in shaping the broader North Star architecture, including Enterprise Architecture (EA) and GRS Domain Architecture.
  • Design a cohesive data architecture and robust data models that guarantee data quality, scalability, reliability, performance, and resilience.
  • Develop conceptual and logical context diagrams alongside comprehensive narratives to illustrate the interactions of enterprise, domain, and segment platforms.
  • Present architectural runways during Program Increments, guiding solution delivery teams through the implementation process.
  • Provide mentorship and education on data solution architecture to all stakeholders engaged in GRS data initiatives.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to established enterprise patterns and address any needs for the evolution of these patterns.
  • Document and communicate architectural decision records to track solution enablement and identify technical debt.
  • Conduct regular reviews of data domain platforms and products to monitor evolving risks, escalating costs, and the current business value.
  • Champion data governance best practices to ensure compliance in solution designs.
  • Collaborate with enterprise teams to evaluate new data technologies, frameworks, and tools, ensuring we stay current with industry trends.
  • Identify emerging trends and patterns that can be leveraged to improve solutions within Liberty Mutual’s ecosystem.
  • Partner with technology vendors to understand product capabilities and propose use cases for new features relevant to Liberty Mutual implementations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud-based data solutions and modern data platforms is a plus.
