Requirements

  • 4-year Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited university or college
  • Registration as a professional engineer or the ability to obtain PE licensure within one year after hired preferred
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in pressure piping system design or mainline pipeline design

Responsibilities

  • Provide deeper understanding supporting development and management of electrical equipment specifications, design and construction standards
  • Provide technical SME support for electrical operating/maintenance procedures, equipment commissioning and testing requirements
  • Provide technical guidance of standards and codes for Enbridge operations, Project groups and other partners
  • Identify opportunities for new technologies and contribute to technical reviews and proof of concepts of new technologies
  • Provide power protection support and coordination/arc flash studies
  • Provide power systems engineering and technical support
  • Review, analyze, and prepare solutions for electrical issues related to medium voltage electrical assets operating, testing, and commissioning
  • Provide electrical system/asset reliability, quality, and electrical safety support
  • Collaborate with regional engineers, technical supervisors, contact engineers, and specialists to develop solutions to equipment and process reliability issues
  • Support the development and prioritization of capital and maintenance budget development activities including Long Range Planning and Forecasting
  • Provide technical mentoring and training to regional technicians and other support groups
  • Support failure analyses and incident investigations
  • Support project technical design reviews
  • Develop to provide engineering expertise and participate in designs to project managers on capital projects or programs within the regions supported
  • Support technical review and sign-off of electrical test results
  • Support power protective relay commissioning support

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable with regulatory and industry codes/standards, including: NFPA 70, 70E, NESC, IEEE and other applicable standards
  • Possess a working level knowledge of the design and operation of liquids pipelines, pump stations, terminal facilities, pipeline hydraulics, and significant knowledge of related technologies such as mechanical, process control systems and instrumentation
  • Ability to consistently solve technical problems as they arise and make decisions on how a problem’s solution will impact the immediate problem and the system as a whole
  • Ability to regularly shift between planned and unplanned activities, while remaining effective despite the resulting disruptive effects
  • Ability to effectively interact with peers, internal stakeholders, vendors, and service providers
  • Proven capability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and meet established deadlines while managing stakeholder expectations
  • Proven skills in both written and verbal communication
