Requirements
- Experience with mixed-signal PCB designs, embedded system design, and PCBA design for harsh environments.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering concepts: analog, digital, high-speed and signal integrity, MPSoCs, FPGAs, MCUs, DC/DC power converters, Ethernet, CAN, SPI, I2C.
- Knowledge of BLDC motor drivers, isolation for safety, DDR memory, LVDS, SerDes, communication over fiber, and safety critical systems.
- Hardware development experience in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment, preferably in medical surgical or therapeutic products.
- Proficient in all phases of the product development lifecycle, including design, implementation, debug, verification, qualification, and transfer to manufacturing.
- Solid hands-on engineering skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Understanding of component selection criteria, design for reliability and manufacturability.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) across all levels and organizations.
- Knowledge of FPGA design preferred.
- Ability to collaborate closely with software and FPGA teams for architecture definition, processor/FPGA selection and interface definition.
- Minimum Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or adjacent technical field with 8 years of experience, or Master’s degree with 6 years of experience, or PhD degree with 3 years of experience.
- 7 years of focused and hands-on mixed-signal board-level design from architecture phase through production.
Responsibilities
- Design or modify PCBAs: lead electrical architecture definition, component selection, schematic capture (OrCAD preferred), perform component placement, stack-up definition, and perform or oversee PCB layout.
- Work with contract manufacturers (CM) to coordinate timely arrival of prototypes and production PCBAs.
- Bring up and debug prototypes, work with embedded software teams to test various functions of the board.
- Represent Electrical Engineering on cross-functional project teams for designing and developing next generation robotic surgery.
- Provide technical expertise to Marketing, Software, and Clinical Development Engineering to establish product requirement for future products.
- Establish the best methods to meet product requirements and integrate design outputs into effective system designs.
- Develop, implement, test and document solutions according to clinical and environmental requirements.
- Provide technical expertise to resolve challenging design, field and manufacturing issues.
- Develop prototypes to aid actions for future product development.
- Provide technical support to other stakeholders on electrical engineering concepts.
- Support the quality and regulatory process.
- Ensure that medical device designs meet product quality and safety requirements, in compliance with design control processes defined in the Quality Management System.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of FPGA design preferred.
