Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience with server hardware and its lifecycle management.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government TS/SCI Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the full server lifecycle, from landing and provisioning to maintenance, in a data center environment.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues on servers, storage, and operating systems (Linux, Windows). Using tools such as iLO (Integrated Lights-Out) and BMC (Baseboard Management Controller).
  • Ensure the installation and maintenance of firmware and drivers for server hardware to optimize performance and compatibility across systems.
  • Managing server builds, including provisioning via PXE boot and other automated deployment technologies.
  • Configuring and maintaining hardware components, including various storage drives (HDD, SSD, NVMe) and ensuring optimal network and storage connectivity.
  • Collaborating with network, storage, and security teams to support infrastructure needs and resolve cross-functional technical issues.
  • Conducting OS patching, upgrades, and configuration changes to maintain system security and efficiency.
  • Monitoring and optimizing server performance, capacity planning, and hardware utilization.
  • Supporting backup, data integrity, and disaster recovery processes in line with best practices.
  • Documenting procedures, configurations, and changes for server and hardware management.
  • Staying current with emerging server technologies and practices for continuous improvement of data center operations.
  • Some travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in server hardware, storage infrastructure, and OS troubleshooting (Linux, Windows).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) for automation of server management tasks.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals with respect to software-defined networks like ACI.
  • Knowledge of best practices for data center security, power, and cooling to support reliable infrastructure design.
  • Familiarity with security compliance standards and best practices for data center management, including the server hardware and operating system lifecycle.
