Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology or Biomedical sciences fields or related scientific discipline and research experience in a laboratory environment OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology or Biomedical sciences fields or related scientific discipline and 2+ years of research experience in a laboratory environment utilizing cell culture, general lab instrumentation, cell-based assays
  • Aseptic Technique

  • Technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills complemented by an ability to listen to and interpret requests

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the customer and SME for the Respiratory team
  • Grow and maintain primary, mammalian and specialized cell lines (suspension, adherent, 3D organoids) to be used in biological assay work.
  • Maintain cell biobank of patient derived cell lines.
  • Prepare conditioned media for successful maintenance of cells.
  • Working with complex cell culture models (ALI Cultures)
  • Cell fixing, staining and imaging
  • Ensure aseptic technique is adhered to in the maintenance of cells
  • Adherence to Health and Safety procedures for own well-being and quality of product.
  • Actively seek opportunities to develop the service by discussion with customer or by the sharing of best practice with other groups.
  • Assist with the preparation of SOPs, Risk Assessments and best practice guides.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Technical Laboratory Services Group and promote PerkinElmer’s core values.
  • Operate to approved quality standards.
  • Work independently and flexibly depending on team priorities and set realistic work schedules to support requirements.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by the line manager or project team leader.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with biotech and/or pharmaceutical drug discovery.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality, consistent results in a timely fashion.
  • Experience with the any/all of the following: ELISAs, MSD, protein/RNA isolation, Western blotting, RT-qPCR, gel electrophoresis
  • Ability to meet timelines successfully with the utmost attention to detail while setting high performance standards.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex scientific data.
  • Previous experience in design and execution of new and established methods and protocols
  • Ability to execute new and established methods and protocols.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
