Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Chemistry, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science or applicable technical field.
- Minimum 6+ years’ experience in the development of polymer formulations.
- Proficiency in chemical synthesis, mechanical and biocompatibility testing, rheology, and standard polymer characterization methods, including GPC, NMR, DMA, FTIR, and optical spectroscopy.
- Experience in drug elution studies.
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), formulation development, process scale-up, technology transfer, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Develop novel polymer formulations and additives for implantable embolization devices and material applications.
- Perform polymer and monomer synthesis, characterizing essential physical and chemical features for optimal material performance.
- Conduct experimental studies to analyze chemical and physical degradation pathways of polymeric biomaterials.
- Identify high-risk areas within formulation chemistry, ensuring thorough vetting through experimentation and targeted studies.
- Optimize and scale up formulations to manufacturable processes, characterizing solubility, loading capacity, radiopacity, reaction rates, degradation profiles, biocompatibility, and drug/solvent release mechanisms.
- Design and execute pre-formulation and process development, ensuring robust, scalable formulation strategies and smooth technology transfer.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing teams to drive project success.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, support process optimization, and guide technicians and entry-level scientists.
