Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in the automotive or relevant industry.
- Experience with vehicle testing on proving grounds and fleet drives.
- A strong understanding of vehicle systems and system interactions.
- A strong understanding of vehicle testing standards.
- Strong data analysis and reporting experience.
- A strong knowledge of automotive testing instrumentation and tools.
- Experience setting up vehicles for specific test requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills coupled with a strong work ethic.
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and resources at the same time.
- Self-starter with high levels of motivation and comfortable with initiating and taking ownership of projects.
- Education: Bachelor of Science minimum in a relevant science or engineering field.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the test vehicle fleet of a program, track and report fleet status to program teams.
- Work with Fleet Management team to ensure all test vehicles are updated with the required HW and SW configurations to meet test requirements.
- Create vehicle test plans for the program through the entire development process.
- Support collation of program Design Verification/Validation Plan (DVP) test items.
- Actively field test requests from other teams and assign test requests to junior members based on availability.
- Ensure vehicles are setup correctly by junior engineers to meet all test requirements.
- Be a leader for all program test activities, maximizing utilization, test safety and efficiency.
- Support all cross-functional teams for gathering test requirements, executing tests and keeping all relevant stakeholders updated on progress.
- Execute vehicle-level test plans in lab, proving grounds and public road settings.
- Collect accurate vehicle data per test requirements, to troubleshoot issues and provide feedback to the relevant stakeholders.
- Document all test results and create technical reports in a clear and concise manner, as well as review test data and reports from junior engineers.
- Identify and report all issues with the relevant details, data and test logs.
- Maintain a summary of triaged program issues, report, escalate and advocate for issue resolution by program milestones.
- Track and report DVP status, program readiness and risks to all relevant stakeholders.
- Some domestic and international travel to test sites and fleet drives.
- Mentor junior engineers throughout the vehicle development process.
- Drive organizational or procedural improvements identified through various activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing fully electric vehicles.
- Licensed by an OEM/Supplier/professional authority to drive prototype test vehicles.
- Masters’ degree in a relevant engineering field.
