Requirements

  • 5+ years experience designing and conducting end-to-end product research as part of cross-functional product teams, ideally at a consumer-facing tech company
  • Broad toolbox of qualitative methods and the ability to select appropriate methods to answer different types of questions
  • Experience with conducting foundational and generative research, as well as evaluative and tactical research
  • Strong ability to tie research insights to actionable and specific product implications
  • Excellent communication, storytelling / narrative building, and presentation skills
  • Collaborative approach to research and ability to bring stakeholders along for the process
  • Ability to toggle between owning and executing end-to-end research and leveraging insights to shape strategy and influence decision making with product leaders
  • Curiosity, self-awareness, humility, and a drive for growth, learning, and sharing knowledge
  • Ability to operate and support teams autonomously in a fast-moving environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, a related field or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and conduct research that varies in approach, scale, scope, timeframe and methodologies across multiple work streams, making sure to work on the right project at the right time
  • Select and communicate the appropriate method or mix of methods (ranging from usability testing, diary studies, semi-structured interviews, participatory workshops, and everything in between) to answer questions for product teams or the broader company
  • Collaborate closely with other researchers to partner on projects, synthesize findings across studies, and produce POVs
  • Build strong relationships as a strategic partner with Product, Design, Engineering, Content Design, and Analytics to identify high impact work and ensure it lands within teams
  • Lead research projects from beginning to end (define study goals, align on research questions, construct a research plan, recruit, gather data, synthesize learnings, and socialize insights)
  • Proactively communicate and share your research findings with product teams and other audiences in compelling, actionable, and engaging ways
  • Inform product team strategy and roadmap; provide perspective on the problems the team can focus on solving for users
