Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in full-stack or backend development, with a strong focus on system architecture and organization-wide impact.
- Expert in TypeScript/Node.js and Python, with deep experience in building and maintaining large-scale distributed systems.
- Extensive experience in designing and optimizing worker systems, event-driven architectures, and scheduled job execution.
- Expertise in relational and non-relational databases, including schema design, data modeling, and performance optimization.
- Proven experience leading major cross-functional initiatives, making architectural decisions, and mentoring engineers at all levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams, influence technical direction, and align engineering with business objectives.
- Self-driven, proactive, and able to operate in a fast-paced environment, consistently raising the bar for engineering quality and organizational impact.
Responsibilities
- Drive Technical Vision and Architecture: Own and drive the architecture for entire systems or major initiatives that impact the organization. Shape the technical direction of TrunkText, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability as the platform grows.
- Scale Our Systems: Design and implement robust, high-performance backend systems that support growing data and user demands while establishing best practices for system scalability and resilience.
- Ensure Reliability and Performance: Establish, enforce, and advocate for engineering best practices across the company. Ensure our systems are highly reliable, secure, and efficient, proactively leading incident resolution and performance improvements.
- Strategic Technical Leadership: Influence company-wide engineering strategy by leading significant cross-functional initiatives. Drive high-impact projects that align engineering efforts with business goals and improve the overall engineering organization.
- Mentor and Elevate the Team: Serve as a mentor for engineers across multiple teams, including other senior and staff engineers. Foster a culture of engineering excellence through technical guidance, code reviews, and leveling up engineering talent.
- Drive Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product, design, and business teams to tackle organization-wide challenges. Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive alignment on priorities and execution.
- Establish and Enforce Engineering Standards: Set the standard for technical practices, tools, and architecture across the company. Champion improvements to the engineering process to enhance efficiency, security, and developer experience.
