Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one-year experience in instrument processing in an acute care setting
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology to understand instrumentation, surgical procedures, and surgical schedule
- Must be proficient in the Association of Advanced Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) Standards of Practice
- Must hold and maintain current CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) or HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) certification
- Current valid Driver License
Responsibilities
- Decontamination, preparation and assembly, sterilization processing, storage and distribution
- Develop and maintain current knowledge of SPD procedures
- Demonstrate knowledge of universal precautions for safety and prevention of cross contamination
- Work as a team member with other Sterile Processing Technicians
- Act as a mentor to developmental level Sterile Processing Technicians and serve as a proctor for sterile processing students
