Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations (PR) or related field
- 8 years recent relevant experience
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of communications planning, community relations, graphic design and production, broadcast/multi-media, graphic standards/corporate identity management, media relations, news media spokesperson techniques, publications, Web site development and maintenance, special events, executive speech writing, sponsorships, telecommunications, research, and advertising
- Business acumen and exceptional analytic skills with the proven ability to provide innovative solutions to complex problems and to meet customer-driven business objectives
- Working knowledge of selecting/hiring third-party talent for creative services, graphic design and production, publication development and management, market research and advertising
- Thorough and applicable knowledge of strategic planning, business development, media relations, employee engagement and crisis communications, including solid experience with social media and digital strategies
- Professional writing and editing skills; spokesperson skills with the ability to articulate a vision while exhibiting a positive public speaking presence
- Ability to energize, mobilize, and influence by fostering productive and collaborative working relationships with internal and external constituencies
- Collaborative working style and ability to develop/sustain productive work relationships with key stakeholders, technical personnel, external vendors and consultants, functional and project managers, and all other individuals and groups across all areas and levels of the organization as well as external consultants
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize information and ideas across a variety of subject matter areas and to create plans that generate an engaging and positive reader experience across product lines
- Proven ability to evaluate innovative graphic design and advertising proposals, craft persuasive messaging and analyze market research, preferably in a health care setting
- Solid budget and finance skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively with staff, senior management, vendors, media partnerships, external agencies and organizations
- Competency in Microsoft Office suite, including working knowledge of graphic design, data management, and statistical analysis software
- Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from PRSA
- Solid content development and management experience, including the ability to optimize all forms of communications and successfully lead matrixed teams across multiple geographies.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements proactive, research- and Lean-based approaches to strategy and change communications for all audiences
- Serves as a strategy and change communications consultant to affiliate, operating unit and system departments on key issues, projects and initiatives
- Oversees special projects
- Advises on information delivery to, and interaction with, impacted audiences surrounding Sutter Health’s short-term and long-term strategic priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of and experience with Lean or other process improvement philosophies and methodologies desired.
