Requirements
- 15+ years of experience with the engineering of structures
- Experience with structural designs in the Navy or defense systems, including engineering related to R&D, T&E, and systems acquisition programs for Navy shipbuilding and defense systems
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team consisting of systems engineers, electrical and electronics engineers, acquisition professionals, and logistics and sustainment professionals to achieve program outcomes
- Knowledge of naval vessel structural design specifications, standards, and practices
- Ability to analyze mechanical designs through review of design artifacts
- Top Secret clearance
- Master’s degree in Engineering
- Professional Engineer Certification
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of structural systems for shipbuilding and defense projects
- Enhance design processes and technologies through your background in mechanical and structural design
- Support research and development, integration, testing, and evaluation activities for the Navy’s shipbuilding and defense programs
- Apply engineering design skills to naval vessels and systems by conducting and supporting related R&D, integration, and T&E activities for the Navy’s shipbuilding and defense programs
- Direct the design and development of mechanical and structural systems for shipbuilding and defense projects
- Prepare and present technical reports and documents to stakeholders
- Stay informed on industry trends, technologies, and best practices
- Collaborate with a cross-functional technical and acquisition team comprising engineers from various disciplines and lead technical activities that support program office efforts
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a positive culture within the team
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Navy acquisition processes
- Possession of strong written and verbal technical communication skills
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering
