Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive structural engineering experience as it relates to the structural design of buildings utilizing steel, concrete and/or masonry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis & a Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering with optional Master’s degree.
  • EIT or Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Highly experienced in foundation design, in both shallow and deep foundation systems utilizing various building materials.
  • Proficiency in drafting and navigating Revit Structure 2019 and/or newer.
  • High proficiency to perform complex vertical and lateral analysis in Risa Floor, Risa 3d, Etabs, etc..
  • Ability to accurately verify computer aided design with hand calculations.
  • Ability to perform complex hand sketches for details, connections, etc..
  • Exceedingly proficient in steel design, including diaphragms, collectors, drag struts, braces frames, moment, frames, etc..
  • Exceedingly proficient in concrete design, member scheduling, rebar and bend scheduling and connections.
  • Proficiency in masonry design and connections of masonry to structural steel and concrete frames.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of the International Building Code (IBC) as it relates to structural design and all applicable reference codes: ASCE, AISC, ACI, MSJC, NDS, PTI, etc..
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Highly experienced in Bluebeam Revu and Bluebeam Studio Sessions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in coordination meetings with other disciplines, design review meetings with various supervisors, clients, and owners, and attend work sessions with various owner-client agencies for additional scope items.
  • Coordinate the design and documentation required to complete the construction documents on a given project schedule and within budget.
  • Author and maintain structural specifications, select procedures for construction, determine materials and member sizes, and complete all necessary calculations needed for proper design.
  • Assist with shop drawing reviews, RFI’s (requests for information), change proposal requests, and change orders and incorporate changes into the project documents.
  • Utilize written and verbal communication skills to relay and translate design and coordination items to project team members and author defensible engineering reports, memos, and email correspondence.
  • Provide site observations / site walks during construction and author reports based on the observation during the Construction Administration phase.
