Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience leading Engineering, Services, Commercial, or P&L

  • At least 5 additional years of experience in a program or project leadership role within an engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for enhancements in flight safety and reliability for new aircraft engine designs, adhering to technical and program requirements.
  • Serve/Support voting members of the engine’s Safety Program Management Team (SPMT) to support safe operation of the fleet in development and in the field.
  • Represent the Flight Safety Office in appropriate program meetings to ensure compliance to the policies and procedures set in place. Promote a safety culture within the enterprise.
  • Manage the program worklist items to support timely disposition of SPMT Action Items by understanding status, actions, and proper documentation in the Safety System Database (XFRACAS).
  • Identify safety concerns at the program level and proactively communicate across programs and Design Boards, as appropriate, to ensure lessons learned are read across to other potentially affected products.
  • Provide Flight Safety Office safety guidance and recommendations.
  • Document best practices, procedures and lessons learned in Standard Work to ensure proper flowdown to other team members.
  • Capable of handling sensitive issues associated with active field investigations.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Explains information, developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and holds team accountable.
  • Communicate with management on technical, organizational, resource and personnel issues.
  • Define roles and responsibilities for assigned personnel.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and participate in salary planning.
  • Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and counseling.
  • Ensure company compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented within work group.

  • Knowledge of engine turbofan architecture, mechanical design and assembly procedures
  • Knowledge of safety risk assessment generation, interpretation and presentation
  • Ability to travel globally
  • Familiarity with GE’s product lines and their joint venture partners
