Requirements
- MD or MD/PhD degree
- Board certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Florida Medical License
- DEA certificate
- At least 8-10 years of experience post Fellowship
- Academic rank or equivalent of Associate Professor or Professor
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to recruit and mentor
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Division’s strategic plan
- Establish the division as a leader on a local and national level
- Develop and regulate the Division’s operational budget
- Propose and gain acceptance of short-term objectives
- Promote the mission of UHealth
- Ensure high-quality clinical services
- Be accountable for revenue generation and expenditures
- Participate in health care industry activities
- Serve in key activities for the Department of Surgery
- Establish education and training policies
- Direct and assist faculty in academic progress
- Establish performance criteria for faculty and staff
- Responsible for clinical care in cardiac surgery
- Build private clinics at University of Miami Hospital and Jackson Memorial Hospitals
- Participate in clinical care at multiple hospitals
- Involved in resident supervision and teaching
- Pursue protocols to fund experiments
