Requirements
- Business management experience in international development and NGOs, ideally with a focus in international electrification or the energy sector, although other infrastructure and project experience will also be considered.
- Experience identifying opportunities and developing proposals and solicitations for new projects and partnerships.
- Proven experience developing program strategy, informed by stakeholders, funder priorities, and market intel.
- Ability to build and sustain a high-performing team with an appreciation and interest in cultivating strategic relationships with internal decision-makers, members and employees at all levels, as well as third-party partners.
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in the execution of all duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to be persuasive, negotiate, and collaborate with individuals at all levels inside and outside of the organization.
- Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse global membership, employees and/or vendors in a clear and precise manner.
- Impeccable ethics and integrity.
- Ability to travel on long-haul international flights.
Responsibilities
- Oversee NRECA International programs and projects, provide guidance and input to the annual budgeting process, and critical analysis of financial performance in collaboration with NRECA International finance and contracts staff.
- Guide and mentor NRECA International team members including oversight of electrification project management and consulting engagements, timely completion of tasks and deliverables, and periodic review of project financial management.
- Develop NRECA International annual program strategy and program plan that will be used to guide business development themes and opportunities.
- Provide guidance and input and lead project selected proposals for USAID, the World Bank, and other regional development bank solicitations. Identify new opportunities in collaboration with the Director of Business Development.
- Supervise and/or oversee selected projects in key geographic areas of focus that represent significant revenue opportunities.
- Demonstrate principles of good stewardship in the management of NRECA International financial resources by finding ways to minimize costs and streamline processes.
- Ensure that the CEO of NRECA is informed when events occur that may impact NRECA members, NRECA International employees or when events may result in significant disruptions of NRECA International business/project activities.
- Develop and optimize NRECA International’s relationship with NRECA leadership and board, ensuring a clear understanding and opportunities to collaborate and partner on the opportunities, challenges, and strategies NRECA International is pursuing.
