Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience or
- Master’s degree and 3+ years of experience
- Must be a U.S. Citizen to be eligible for consideration
- Knowledge of key processes required to deliver and support controls product solutions, including product design change management and risk management processes
- Proven experience of 5 years or more of successfully delivering technical projects/tasks to time, cost and quality, and leadership of teams to do the same
- Experience and knowledge of T56/501K product line and/or Helicopters product line, regulatory framework and customers
- Breadth of controls engineering experience across functions and product lifecycle: design, performance, validation/verification, customer application, certification/qualification, maintenance & overhaul, repair, field service, etc.
- Experience and demonstrated capability in root cause investigation and other problem-solving techniques with knowledge of RTCA/DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 environmental testing standards
- Experience with controls system and software development lifecycle per SAE/ARP-4754 and RTCA/DO-178 industry guidance.
- Experience with the non-conforming material process and disposing of non-conforming product, and investigations using root cause and problem-solving practices.
- Experience working with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers, civil (FAA, EASA, etc.) and military airworthiness authorities
- Proven ability to exercise sound technical and business judgement.
- Experience in managing/leading/coaching people and teams to successful outcomes and customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrated ability to influence others through effective and positive engagement on technical and business issues.
- Experience in understanding and managing customer and senior management expectations.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, take decisions and make recommendations with minimal data.
- Ability to quickly understand the key technical issues in potentially complex technical problems on unfamiliar subjects.
Responsibilities
- Define, plan and execute technical program of work that delivers engineering solutions for all aspects of engine control systems, hardware, and software to cost, schedule, and quality that satisfies all the product, project and regulatory, including cyber security requirements.
- Work with Global ET&S Capability Leads to secure the required internal resources or managed service providers to deliver controls solutions
- Manage workload, prioritization, resource allocation, and budget for the assigned T56/Helo Controls Team and ensure that work is performed to the appropriate technical standards/processes, to the required time frames
- Ensure controls (system, mechanical hardware, electrical hardware, software) engineering load and capacity are consistent with combined programs budgets, exercising program change control where appropriate to ensure balance
- Working with the Group ET&S Capability Leads, provide technical leadership, guidance, coaching and mentoring to assigned engineers to deliver program requirements and enable them to be their best
- Be the Controls Technical Lead to internal/external operations, external customers and certification authorities
- Ensure program and product cyber security requirements met
- Work with the Group ET&S Capability Leads to identify training, skills gaps or competency needs with the team and provide skill development opportunities to enable successful delivery
- Champion engineering performance metrics, including commitment to continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant field with 10+ years of related experience, OR
- A Masters degree in Engineering or relevant field with 7+ years experience, OR
- JD/PhD in Engineering or relevant field with 5+ years experience
