Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, MST / CPA preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in tax accounting and financial reporting in a large corporation or public accounting firm.
  • Strong OneSource Tax Provision skills.
  • Experience advising on complex tax accounting and technical issues.
  • Experience in collaborating with other Tax and Finance areas and ability to work together as part of a team toward a common objective.
  • Experience of operating at a management level.
  • Knowledge and experience with ASC 740 and tax accounting under US GAAP requirements.
  • Knowledge of corporate taxation and of the end-to-end tax cycle.
  • Experience in navigating and managing the financial close process.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation of quarterly tax provisions and ensure accuracy of the tax provision reported in US GAAP financial statements for the General Insurance business and footnote disclosures as part of Form 10-Q/K filings.
  • Maintain accuracy of all tax accounts by utilizing tax provision software and workflow tools used within the financial reporting process.
  • Ensure accuracy of the tax provision reported in the NAIC Statutory financial statements for the regulated PC insurance companies and associated footnote disclosures.
  • Prepare stand-alone Bermuda statutory and US GAAP audited financial statements and support the statements through the audit cycle.
  • Prepare analytics for senior management presentations, focusing on clearly and concisely explaining major drivers of activity and period over period variances in tax balances.
  • Close collaboration with the Financial Planning & Analysis and Capital Planning teams in modelling scenarios, forecasts, and budgets for planning purposes.
  • Close collaboration with Tax Advisory, Tax Controversy and Finance teams on various projects and initiatives, as well as to ensure a smooth and timely financial close process.
  • Assist in U.S. GAAP and U.S. Statutory tax accounting analysis related to significant transactions.
  • Manage third-party service provided in the preparation of the annual tax return for various non-life entities. This also includes reviewing the provision to return analysis and preparing the tax basis balance sheet.
  • Research US GAAP pronouncements, U.S. STAT issues, tax technical issues, industry issues and peer companies to enhance AIG’s financial reporting capabilities.
  • Assist in the implementation of OECD Pillar Two reporting.
  • Draft and review tax accounting related memos.
  • Actively identifying areas for process improvements.
  • Ad hoc support for special projects and initiatives.
