Requirements

  • Technical or associate degree in aerospace/UAS (or related) field
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with tools and electronics
  • Familiarity with basic computer networking concepts
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proven ability to master a technical system and support it in austere environments; must demonstrate an innate drive to be self-sufficient across the breadth of a technical system
  • Extensive hands-on (field operations, manufacturing, or test) technical experience
  • Hands-on professional experience working with UAV’s or equivalent military experience as a UAV operator, maintenance technician, or Crew Chief
  • Demonstrated understanding of flight operations, aircraft systems, and sensors
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems in unstructured situations at the interface of hardware, software, and operations in pursuit of mission success
  • Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams and external customers; demonstrated ability to collect differing opinions and reconcile them in order to achieve agreement on what ‘right’ looks like
  • Experience working in unstructured situations at the interface of hardware, software, and networking; ability to drive challenging and vague technical problems to clarity and resolution
  • Experience performing data-driven root cause analysis on complex systems
  • Strong computer and documentation experience
  • Demonstrated ability to train peers or customers on the operation of a product
  • Willingness to travel up to 80%, including occasional deployments for up to two months at a time
  • Able to work extended hours as required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain 14 CFR Part 107 and 14 CFR 61 Ground School
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a FAA Class II Medical
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Own event planning and execution
  • Assemble aircraft and sub-systems
  • Become proficient in ground station software
  • Become proficient in ALTIUS Launcher Systems
  • Become subject matter expert (SME) on ALTIUS platforms
  • Pilot aircraft via waypoint navigation and manual control
  • Conduct mission planning
  • Support ground testing events
  • Travel to various test sites and ranges to conduct flight operations
  • Work with multiple internal organizations to plan test events and lead the successful execution of those test events
  • Responsible for conducting pre-flight briefings and post-flight debriefings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • Prior military or overseas contracting experience
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix OS; comfortable obtaining data from software platforms using command-line tools
