Requirements
- Associate degree in electrical engineering or related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience, with a primary focus in technology applied to electric machines OR a High School Diploma with a minimum of 10 years of experience, with a primary focus in technology applied to electric machines
- Experience in designing and commissioning of electrical/electronic circuits and printed circuit board (PCB) layout applied in electric machine drives and power conversion systems with considerations on signal fidelity, noise, EMI/EMS, and thermal management
- Substantial experience in the design of test fixtures, including electrical, thermal, mechanical, and instrumentation technologies
- Experience in designing electrical and electronic subsystems used within electric machine systems for a wide range of applications
- Experience with the experimental evaluation of power electronics and electric machine systems
- Documentation of test setup, major procedures, findings/results
- Preliminary data processing skills and using MS Excel and writing reports in MS Word

- Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.

Responsibilities
- Design and commission power and signal interface circuits and corresponding printed circuit boards for controllers and instrumentations applied in electric machines and power conversion systems
- Procure, fabricate, and assemble electrical and mechanical components, subsystems and complete system assembly of engineering prototypes for research programs
- Design fixtures, electrical and electronic subsystems, instrumentation, data acquisition, mechanical and thermal subsystems, that facilitate the evaluation of electrical systems intended for a wide variety of applications
- Determine experimental requirements for evaluating electric machine systems by studying system and customer requirements
- Develop and implement test procedures for electrical systems and document performance characteristics
- Troubleshoot and solve electrical and mechanical problems unassisted where objectives are clearly defined but course of action must be considered and determined
- Be responsible for the maintenance of standard laboratory equipment and facilities including calibration of instruments and monitoring devices
- Perform all work in accordance with EHS guidelines and compliance policies
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with DC grid concepts, including medium and high voltage DC power electronics systems. Familiarity with energy storage applications.
- Experience with tools for PCB design like Altium. Familiarity on lab design and experiment tools like CREO, LabView etc.
- Demonstrated successful track record of completing tasks and deliverables on schedule and on budget.
