Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent with two years relevant experience
- This job requires constant and permanent rotating shift work
- Communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with technical teams to facilitate repairs and maintenance
- A strong interest in and willingness to learn the procedures and operations associated with particle accelerators and electron storage rings
- Ability to complete a self-paced training program, demonstrating initiative and self-discipline
- Knowledge of physics and electrical theory
- Problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to model Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork
Responsibilities
- Assisting in the operation of accelerator systems to ensure optimal performance
- Diagnosing and resolving operational issues affecting accelerator performance
- Utilizing computer workstations to manage and monitor operations
- Maintaining detailed on-shift logs to document equipment performance and any unusual behavior
- Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of operating conditions, procedures, protocols, and policies to ensure compliance and safety
- Coordinating with technical groups for hands-on repairs and overseeing the initiation of such work
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a technical or scientific environment
- Familiarity with accelerator systems and related technologies
