Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree with major in biological sciences, or equivalent, with additional 4 years of lab experience in a related research area.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting to achieve departmental and research lab goals.
- Exercise sound and ethical judgment when acting on behalf of the research lab and the Department.
- Familiarity with basic computer programs such as MS Word, Excel; visual concentration and manual dexterity are required.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work with a wide variety of people.
- Awareness that protocols and procedures adhere to safety requirements.
- Ability to serve as an advocate for individuals of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds.
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Responsibilities
- Provide Research, Technical, Administrative support of lab operations.
- Conduct a variety of experiments with guidance and support from other lab personnel.
- Conduct genetic crosses and phenotypic characterization of C. elegans strains.
- Perform molecular biology work involving DNA, RNA, protein; microscopy; genomic techniques and bioinformatic analysis of high-throughput sequencing data.
- Prepare stock plates, media, reagents and supplies for daily experiments.
- Order reagents and supplies; arrange for maintenance and repair of lab equipment.
